Welcome to the Counseling Center!
Our world needs all of us to create space for kindness. At the Counseling Center, we have created different ways for students to experience mutual kindness, compassion, and support. Here are 5 ways to connect, build skills, and learn about yourself as we begin the fall:
1. Kindness and support is offered throughout campus. The Counseling Center has created Support for My Journey as a way for students to reflect on what they need to support their mental health and find the specific program on campus or in the community that can help meet that need. Find your support!
2. The Counseling Center offers groups as a way for students to give and receive support. From Quick Access groups like Anxiety Toolbox and Kind Mind, to Understanding Self and Others, LGBTQ+, and Support Group for Students of Color – see our groups at Group Counseling.
3. We provide short-term individual counseling, including options for in-person and telemental health when appropriate. Get started with either individual or group counseling by calling us at 828-262-3180 to schedule an Initial Consultation. See Getting Started to learn more.
4. Let’s Talk: Brief, one-on-one consultations with Counseling Center counselors located in spaces outside the Counseling Center. Let's Talk counselors can share helpful resources, offer their perspective on specific problems or concerns, assist in learning how to help a friend, and answer questions about what it might be like to talk with a counselor. 5. Outreach Presentations: We are happy to connect in-person or virtually with clubs, organizations, and classes to present workshops and discuss mental health topics. See Prevention and Outreach Services to request a program and learn more about our Mental Health Ambassadors.
