How to Help

Concerned About a Student?

Counseling Center staff provide consultation to faculty, staff, family members, and students who are concerned about an App State student. Because our services are confidential, we cannot provide information about a specific student or their use of our services unless the student gives us permission to do so. However,  we can offer guidance on how you can approach students in distress or connect them with resources.

We are available to consult…

  • By phone (for family members, faculty, and staff): 8-5 PM, Monday-Friday by calling (828)-262-3180. An on-call counselor may be reached at this number after-hours in the event of a psychological emergency.
  • In-person during Initial Consultation hours (for students): 8:30-11 AM and 1-4 PM, Monday-Friday on the 1st floor of the Miles Annas Building (614 Howard St.).

Please refer to the links below for more information.
