Major and Career Counseling
If you are having trouble deciding on a major or career, Appalachian State University has the help for you! The staff at the Peer Career Center in the Student Union can help you get to know yourself in ways that are particularly important in finding a major or career that is fulfilling for you. The Peer Career Center is co-sponsored by the Counseling and Psychological Services Center and Career Development. The staff includes trained student volunteers, graduate students in the helping professions, and professional counselors/psychologists. Please follow this link to learn more about Peer Career services.
If you find that you are having trouble really coming to know your life interests, values, or abilities (all important keys to choosing the right major or career) or if you realize that your difficulties deciding on a career or major are really difficulties with making decisions in general, our professional career counseling staff can help you. While this staff works part time in Peer Career, they more often work out of their offices in the Counseling Center. Calling the Counseling Center will be the best way to reach the staff you need to help with these issues. Please follow this link for contact information for the Counseling Center.
After working with Peer Career or the Counseling Center to choose your major or career, you may wish to get some help finding a job in your field.
