Welcome to Fall Semester 2022!

The Counseling Center Staff welcomes all of our students to a new fall semester! We are

passionate about helping students throughout their time here, and know that students need

different supports at various points of their journey. For that reason, we offer a variety of

services – group therapy, short-term individual therapy, referral coordination, emergency

services, self-help, and workshops / presentations, to name a few. We encourage you to explore

these and other resources on our website, and encourage students to connect with us to learn

more about how we can help:

• Get started with an Initial Consultation. Students can call or stop in to schedule an Initial

Consultation. This appointment with a counselor by phone will last approximately

twenty minutes. The counselor will talk with the student about their concerns and

collaborate to make recommendations for services and resources in the Counseling

Center, on campus, and/or in the community that will best match their needs.

• Students can stop by Let’s Talk in the Student Union or Let’s TeleTalk by Zoom for a

brief and confidential one-on-one consultation with a counselor. Let’s Talk consultants

can help students address specific problems, familiarize them with the process of talking

to a counselor, share helpful resources, offer their perspective on a student’s concerns,

and assist in learning how to help a friend. Offered on a first come, first-served basis,

and not a substitute for counseling, but a great way to get direction or resources for next

We look forward to connecting with our students this semester and being a part of their

App State journey!

Best wishes,

Chris Hogan, Ph.D.
