Eating Disorders and Body Image

Disordered eating and body image concerns are prevalent on college campuses, including Appalachian State University. Often students struggling with food and body image suffer silently, unaware of the resources available. You may be reading this information because you are concerned about yourself, a loved one, a friend, or a roommate. If you are struggling, you may be hesitant to seek help for fear that you will be told to immediately change your weight or eating in some way. This is not true. The Counseling Center uses an individualized approach to help you discover what recovery and health mean to you. We believe that full recovery from an eating disorder is possible, and we are here to help. The Counseling Center provides confidential counseling services to ASU students and encourages you to talk to a staff member about your struggles.

The information collected here has been developed by the Counseling Center staff so that you can confidentially explore information on these topics.
